What is the position where there is a closure of a workplace which an employee works at on a hybrid basis?

It is often the case today that an employee’s place of work may in fact be multiple places. If one or more of their multiple places of work is closing down, it may then be reasonable to establish a redundancy situation by linking it to a diminishing need for employees.

Depending on the type of business, the employees may be able to switch to remote work entirely, or base their on-site work at another office. If this was a possibility and the need for staff was not diminished by the closure of the office, redundancy is likely unnecessary, and those made redundant could claim for unfair dismissal.
